There is no better deed than providing a roof over their heads for a poor family.

We build a house in Horana for a very innocent family with four girls. The father of these children has passed away about a year ago. They were living in a rented house and the landlord has asked them to vacate the place because they can’t pay the rent. Anyway, they had to vacate the house because it’s a dilapidated one.
This family dose not have any permanent income. The mother of these children, sells incense sticks in Horana bus stand and earns some thing for their day to expenses. The grandmother of the children also living with them. She looks after the children when the mother is out. She is also getting Rs. 1900. 00 as elders’ beneficiary payment given by the Department of Social Service.
With the request made by the Divisional Secretary of Horan Mrs. Sanjeewana Kapurubandara, we build this house for them. 12 perches of government land was allocated by her and the construction work was done under the supervision of the Technical Officer and the Children’s Welfare Officer of the divisional secretariat.
We were targeting to handover the house on the 25th of this month and we did it. We had the plan to get some Buddhist priest and have seth pirith chanting and also to invite a few of our donors who were willing to donate some household goods to this family. But due to COVID 19, we could not do anything, we just send the keys to them to occupy the house at the pre-arranged auspicious time.
