Karuna Turst has been formed with the objective of uplifting the lives of underprivileged rural population of Sri Lanka. We had four main focus areas in this effort: education, health care, community development and environment. After COVID 19 pandemic our income came down drastically and we had to reduce our activities only to education and eye care service.

Education

• Award scholarships, donations, financial aid and assistance to the needy students.
• Improve the facilities of school libraries by donating new books.
• Conduct computer courses for students who do not have facilities in their schools.

Eye Care

• Conduct eye camps in rural villages where facilities are not available and identify the cataract patients.
• We facilitate the poor eye patients to undergo cataract surgery.
• We give low cost quality spectacles made according to the prescriptions to the needy, with poor vision.
• We do eye screening programs in schools and identify poor vision students and give them quality spectacles made according to the prescriptions.

Community development

• Conduct job oriented computer courses for school leavers.

Environment

• Tree planting programs
